The West Coast Regional Meet is coming to the Redding, Sacramento, and Reno areas this summer, June 19 – 23, 2014!
On years when the National Garden Railway Convention is east of the Rockies it’s common for a regional meet to be held on the west coast. A regional meet is a more informal event, focused around self-guided layout tours and other activities, but without a convention hall or any exhibitors. In 2014 the West Coast Regional Meet will be hosted by the Sacramento Valley Garden Railway Society.
We’ve lined up lots of great layouts to be open over the weekend, Friday through Sunday, June 20 – 22, 2014, in the Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Rancho Cordova, Granite Bay, Citrus Heights, and Auburn and areas.
The Shasta Garden Railway Society (in the Redding, CA area) will have several of their layouts open for visits on Thursday, June 19. And on Monday, June 23, the Northern Nevada Garden Railroad Society (in the Reno, NV area) will have five of their layouts open for visits.
Family registration is $35 which includes a tour book and badges for all family members. The book will contain details about all meet activities, including a photo, description, map, and directions to all railroads open for the event. You will receive the tour book in the mail a few weeks prior to the event.
There will also be a train ride and gourmet ice cream sundae event on Friday evening in Folsom for $35/person. And on Saturday evening we’ll get together for a BBQ dinner for $25/person and enjoy rides on the 7-1/2″ gauge Sacramento Valley Live Steamers railroad. T-shirts are also available for $15/each.
The current layout counts (subject to change) and schedule is as follows:
